Gavin Harley on Understone Van de Kapel wins OLIVA NOVA GRAND PRIX

First week of showjumping competition ends with a great succes.

Oliva, Valencia. Octuber 25th. Fourth Autum Met Edition has ended its first week (from a total of three) with Ireland’s rider Gavin Harley triumph in Gold 4, the Grand Prix of Oliva Nova Beach & Golf Resort winning with Understone Van de Kapel. A total ammount of 30.000 have been allocated to award the best riders in this class.

After an exciting first heat, a total of 17 horse and rider combinations found their way to a clear round over the course set by Germany’s Klaus Holle and classified for a thrilling jump off. Some favorites riders like British Laura Renwick on Rembrandt and Lars Nieberg riding Casallora did not get the Jump Off.

Ireland’s Gavin Harley on Understone Van de Kapel was the fifth on track. This pair raced to the the fastest time, 46.60 seconds to get the victory followed by one of the best riders here, Belgium’s Jerôme Guery and another great rider from Belgium, Constant Van Paesschen, second and third respectively.

In the morning, representing United Arab Emirates, Rashid Al Rumaithi on Really LS La Silla emerged victorious in Bronze 4 class with jump off and obstacles height 1.40 m. This pair was the best in getting the fastest time, 46.07 seconds from a total of 16 competitors who classified for the jump off. Ireland’s Aisling Byrne on Wellview Classic Dream was second, followed by British rider Maja Burnell riding Karnaval Komombo.

In Gold 3, in two phases and fences height 1.30 m. Great Britains’s Kaleigh Watts guided his horse Winde to a clear round and the best time of 50.82 to win the class followed by Emile Tacken from Nederland on Another Lady. Third position for Jerôme Guery riding Strangelove.

In Bronze 3, also two phases with 1.30 obstacles height, the best from a total of 72 pairs was british rider Will Edwards on Zarissa.

The rest of today’s classes have been won by Great Britain’s Chloe Aston on Amigo T in Gold 1 with no faults and a great time, 51.58 seconds while first places in Bronze 1 and in Bronze 2 went to Ukraine’s Svitlana Vinnischenko on Cap Pas and British rider Taisie De Gruchy on Hoodshill First Look respectively.

MET Autumn second week of showjumping competition will go on in Oliva Nova Equestrian Center on Tuesday with Young Horses Classes.
