Belano Vd Wijnhoeve Z keeps winning forMariano Martinez Bastida at Spring MET II 2026

Sunday’s CSI3* 1.50m Oliva Nova Beach & Golf Resort Grand Prix concluded the second week of competition at Spring MET II 2026 at Centro Ecuestre Oliva Nova in Spain.

In a jump-off between thirteen horse-and-rider combinations, it was the host nation’s Mariano Martinez Bastida and the 17-year-old Belano Vd Wijnhoeve Z (Berlin x Darco) that clocked the winning time of 49.57 seconds.

“I’m very happy with how Belano keeps fighting for the team,” Martinez Bastida said after the victory. “The course was quite technical in some parts. There were many faults in the last part of the triple, and the last line of the course was also quite hard with the plank. But Belano can do anything! He truly is a horse of a life time. He has been with me for seven years already, and we have achieved 11 Grand Prix wins together. In the last two Grand Prix that we jumped here at MET, he placed second and third. We were fighting for the first place. This week was great; he won Friday’s 1.50 world ranking class and today the Grand Prix – we can’t ask for more.”

Matheus Ferreira Gomes Corrêa (BRA) on Graal Un Prince Domm (Kannan x Airborne Montecillo) and Charlotte Ash (GBR) aboard Irma-Riende (Baltic VDL x Indoctro) shared the runner-up spot after they both completed the jump-off in 52.66 seconds, while a fence down in 50.69 seconds left Julien Epaillard (FRA) and Fringan de Vesquerie (Mylord Carthago x Diamant de Semilly) to fourth. Dayro Arroyave (COL) and Arctic Light B (Exxon Hedonist x Gingerino 2) followed in fifth with four penalties in a time of 53.09.

Spring MET II 2026 continues next week for the third and final week of competition, followed by Spring MET III in March and Spring MET IV in April.
